2020-2021 SAISA Pre-Season News

The SAISA BOD met on Monday July 27th to discuss the Covid 19 Pandemic and how it may affect our 2020-2021 HS Sailing season. In the interest of safety for our sailors, coaches, support staff and on the water volunteers, it was decided that SAISA will take the following precautions:

  1. The ISSA BOD has postponed the Cressy National Singlehanded Championship to 2021. When ISSA solidifies a date and venue, SAISA will then schedule a qualifier in the winter/spring of 2021.

  2. All ISSA interconference, coastal and invitational regattas in the fall of 2020 have been cancelled. This included the ACC’s, PCC Girls Champs, Larry White, CofC Intersectional, Great Oaks and the Keelboat Champs.

  3. The SAISA north and south points qualification series have been postponed until 2021. As we progress through the fall, the SAISA BOD will continue to monitor the situation and may consider a shorter qualification series.

  4. SAISA will continue to promote/support HS sailing this fall at a very local level including local scrimmages, joint practices and even small regattas not requiring extensive (overnight) travel.

  5. The SAISA website along with Techscore will be available for use by all 2020-2021 SAISA member schools. If you would like to host an event, South NOR’s should be sent to Todd Fedyszyn at todd@spyc.org and North NOR’s should be sent to Ryan Hamm at ryanhamm@sadlerandhamm.com for approval.

  6. All events including Regattas, Scrimmages and Joint Practices shall strictly adhere to all CDC, State, County and Local Covid 19 Guidelines.

Sincerely,

Todd Fedyszyn
SAISA President
