NJISA Sportsmanship Award

Danny Kane '16, Summit

John Groskoph, coach of Summit Regional writes:

"What makes Danny's story so compelling is that he had never sailed a day in his life before walking onto the Summit team as a freshman. He completely fell in love with the sport and has looked for every opportunity to learn. He has sailed every season since his freshman year. He convinced his parents to join the Raritan Yacht Club so that he could sail in the junior program in the summer. He has even worked his way onto the crew of a J30 in the Raritan Yacht Club Wednesday series. Danny is an excellent crew, and he will do anything that a skipper asks of him. He is every skipper's choice for heavy air."

This type of passion and commitment make Danny an obvious choice for the NJISA Sportsmanship Award, and we applaud Danny's efforts and enthusiasm for high school sailing."
