-- Patrick Modin ’19, Rumson-Fair Haven

Coach Jeff Bonanni writes:  Patrick Modin is a junior skipper and co-Captain of the Rumson Fair-Haven High School sailing team. Patrick is always the first volunteer to train new crews, carry marks to the coach boat, ensure all the boats are tied down properly and lend spare gear and bailers.  He always rigs extra boats at practice so that we can get on the water earlier as a team.  At regattas, he stays dressed, engaged and prepared to sail at a moment’s notice, whether it be as skipper or crew. Patrick's attitude and selflessness sets the tone and culture for our team, which is a strong driver of our success.

-- Zoe Papier ’19, Chatham

Summit Coach John Groskoph writes:  Zoe Papier is a captain of the Chatham Sailing team.  In her role as captain she helps coordinate weekly activities of the team and provides an ongoing leadership example.  However, Zoe goes well beyond that.  She regularly ensures that the fleet of FJs owned by the Perth Amboy High School (which Chatham uses) are cared for properly and are always put away in a neat and orderly fashion.  She also reaches out to the Perth Amboy sailors at each practice to make sure that they each have a partner to sail with, often combining with Chatham to make even pairs.  Zoe is a pleasure to work with and an asset to the Raritan Bay high school sailing community.
